Hello, My name is Ron and I am also known as PittRxMan. I happen to be the Web Master of MPowerFlorida.
On June 30, 1997 I lost my best friend, my lover and the best mother that three young men could possibly have. I lost her to a very aggressive form of Ovarian Cancer.
Several months after her death, I was using the internet to look for information on Ovarian Cancer. I visited an Australian web site and read something by a gentleman named Simon Lee.
Simon tells the story of how his wife had symptoms that should have been a red flag and, had they been AWARE, it might have meant an earlier diagnosis for his wife Sheila. As I read his words I began to cry uncontrollably. Here was Simon, on the other side of the world, telling MY story.
Here was my problem. Juanita was a well educated Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner and I am a practicing Pharmacist. Neither one of us knew enough about this disease to see those red flags.
Ovarian Cancer is said to be a SILENT disease that WHISPERS. That is not true, there are symptoms but BOTH partners need to be aware. Only 10 percent of Ovarian Cancers are diagnosed on the first visit! Most are diagnosed when it is already too late. It is critically important to increase AWARENESS and effect change. This AWARENESS change must take place in the regular community and among the medical community. All too often, when a patient presents with symptoms that should raise a red flag, the patient is dissed and told that she has nerves, stomach problems or visits the internet too often!
If this site can save one life, stop a families pain and bring about change then Juanita's life will continue to touch others.
I know that she would not want anyone else to die unnecessarily or another family to suffer. She is MY angel and always will be. Please let her experience help you!
